JEWELRY CARE GUIDE
Maintain that initial luster and polish of your new piece by following these simple steps.
Disclaimer: Metals containing copper, such as but not limited to Bronze, Brass, Sterling Silver, and--obviously-- copper are far more susceptible to the wear and tear of daily life. Unless youre buying surgical grade stainless steel in its natural form, there really isn't a metal out there that will maintain its out-of-the-box brightness. Not even gold. Its a popular selling point for a lot of jewelry that you can swim, shower, and sweat in it without problems, but that just isnt' the case. All metal is prone to scratches, scrapes, rubbing, and building up grit and grime with consistent wear. While Gold isn't prone to oxidizing or building up that characteristic patina, it is still a soft metal that will eventually need a polishing of its own. So before you runaway from buying a silver or bronze piece, know that anyone selling you on something indestructible is either working with thinly plated, bulk-produced stainless steel. Hell. We even sell of of those pieces ourself. And while they can endure the bumps and scrapes of life a lot longer than other metals, nothing last forever.
But it can last for generations to come if you take the appropriate steps.
That said: you can totally ignore these care guides. Your bronze and silver pieces will likely build up that patina faster but at the end of the day this is an issue of preference. So if you want to maintain that out-of-the-box bling, keep it clean and follow these steps.
THINGS TO AVOID: Water, sweat, salt, chlorine, heat, and prolonged exposure to sun will cause the outter layers of your piece to patina exponentially faster than if they were removed from activities involving these elements.
THINGS TO DO: wash with soap and water if its gets dirty. Dry it as soon as you've finished washing it. But most of all, especially with silver, WEAR YOUR PIECE. While sweat can speed up the patina, your body's natural oils can provide a barrier to ward off much of the daily exposure.
